Wake up call this mornign was before 5:00. We were going to watch the sunrise at some geysers. On the way to the geysers, our driver got out and looked at the car. Something was not right he thought. Well he was right. We had apparently lost 5 of the 6 lugnuts on one of our wheels. So he got out, flagged down another driver to help us out. The other driver took his group to the geysers and then some hot springs while we stayed in the car.
While in the car we made a video about our car trouble. Then we discussed the possibility of cuddling to stay warm. It was freezing this morning. I even broke a huge fashion no no, even worse than a poncho. I wore socks with my sandals. It was a necessity though.
Once the other driver came back from leaving his group at the hot springs, he gave us a ride to the geysers. We missed the sunrise, but it was still nifty. Then, Leo came in the car. He had managed to redistribute all of our other lugnuts. So he took us to the hot springs. While we jumped in, he made us breakfast. It was a nice mornng, despite our car trouble. Its nice that all of the drivers look out for each other.
After breakfast we went to one more volcano and lagoon and then Sarah and I were dropped off at the Chilean boarder and the boys continued back to Yuni. They made the trip for me. The salt flats we about what I thought they would be. They were nice, but I think people hyped them up too much for me.
At the Chilean boarder we took a bus to the boarder town of San something, I don´t totally remember. Even though, there was not a lot to do in this town so we bought a bus ticket to take us to Antofagasto later that afternoon. It was hard because we could not get any money. This town had one ATM that was filled once or twice a week. It was empty most of the time. So we begged and had some one change currency for us, but it was not cheap and it took a few hours for it to be able to be done. We had lunch, we were able to pay via Visa and it was so expensive we were in shock. It was nice to get on a bus and get where we can have money. So in about 6 hours we will be in Antofagasto, a large port town.
Once in Antofagasto we were in shock. It was a big city. We went straight to a hotel and crashed out. The hotel was a basement room, which was interesting. But at this point we just wanted a place to sleep with a shower and a working toilet. Even more so, we had cable.
