Today we woke up pretty early to get a head start on a long day of driving. However, for some reason we didn´t get breakfast. We thought it was kind of funny that everyone else did and we were left out. Luckily the doctors had bags of granola bars so we wouldn´t starve.
The big problem of today was being female. We are driving for almost 16 hours through the salt flats. There are no trees, rocks or even bushes to hid behind when one needs to go to the bathroom. The boys would just walk off into the distance and do their business. Our driver would suggest that we had a great spot to take a picture and he stopped and did his thing. The boys actually felt very sorry for us today. It was much harder for us. I, with my shy bladder refused to try and find a big enough rock. And even if I had found a rock, me being clutsy would probably result in me peeing on myself. Therefore, I risked the bladder infection and held it for about 14 hours.
On our journey today we stopped at many different volcanos and lagoons. We saw flamingos and some unusual rock formations. It was a nice day. A little boring for me because it was a lot of driving over rocky and bumpy terrain. Which makes it harder on the bladder when you have to pee. But all of the stops were really nice. Even from a distance we saw a grey fox, which eventually was chased off by an alpaca.
Once we reached our hotel for the night, even more basic than the night before. We had no showers and electricity was only turned on for 2 hours at night and powered by a generator. We all had to share a room tonight. Yes, I have slept with three doctors. For dinner we sat around a table, had pasta and wine and shared interesting life stories. We laughed a lot and learned many different things about each other, especially in the relationship department. These poor doctors have had a rough time being desired. If you want more info on the doctors, let me know. They truely made this trip more enjoyable for me. It was fun and lucky that we had met them.
Before we went to bed, another two of the three toilets we out of commission. I will not miss this part of the trip. Once we were all tucked in, Danny serenaded us and was his warm up for his American Idol audition. It was a fun day, but long. Tomorrow we have to get up really early.
