Cochabamba / Oruro/ Yuni

Today is our bus to Oruro. I don´t want to go there or spend any time. But Sarah wanted to see this lady she met on the bus. Once we get to Oruro, we both agreed not to stay. So we went to the bus station to look for a ticket to Yuni, which is where people start the Salt Flat tours, but all the buses were overnight and we didn´t want to do that.

So we grabbed a cab and high tailed it to the train station which has buses that go every few days to Yuni. Today happened to be one of those days. We get there, upgrade to a first class car, which cost $2 more and were on our way to the salt flats. Once on the train, we ended up sitting next to three doctors from Kentucky. We decided with them that we would all book a tour together and have a little more room in our car. It was a great idea. Once we arrived to Yuni, it was very late and we got the last rooms in our hostel. Then we went and talked to a few different travel agents about the tours. We chose a guy who guarenteed us a private tour and leave in the morning.

It has been a long day of traveling, 6 hours on a bus and 9 hours on a train. So our very basic accomodations seemed to be fine. We head off for a three day journey tomorrow. I am still skeptical about how wonderful this place will be. But I am bringing dad´s saying with me. If you are going to be there, you might as well make the best out of it.
