Easter Island Day 4

Today Gert and Connie picked us up before dawn and we drove toa spot called Ahu Tonoranki to watch the sunrise. This spot has many big heads in a row with the sun coming up behind them over the water. It was amazing. On the way there, a jeep passed us and sprayed water into our window. That was a wake up call.

Behind the big heads, there is the volcano Rano Raruku. This is the quary where the big heads were carved. It was spectacular. They were everywhere. Some were even popping out of the ground like daisies. On our way to the volcano crater, we got caught in a giant downpour and ran for cover. Cover however, was breaking the law and getting to close to the statues. We were soaking wet. We waited for the rain to pass, whcih didn´t take long. We walked up the volcano and around the crater. It is truely ad amazing sight. There are over 400 big heads in this area. We finished walkig around and made in back in time to make it to breakfast.

After breakfast we killed some time and then were picked up by Connie and Gert and went to Ankeny beach. Kelly and Sarah went body surfing. I listed to music under my palm tree and watched. it was fun to watch the body surfing. We could hear Kelly laughing and saw Sarah exposing herself. What a day. I tried body surfing a few times and can´t do it. I was bent ad contorted in ways my body isn´t supposed to go. But I had a good tiem. it was fun.

On the drive back to our hotels we stopped off at the hat quary. Some of the big heads are wearing red hats. It was an interesting sight with loads of unfinished hats out of a red rock. Then back to the ocean to watch the sunset over the water. It was a great and full day. I am now having chest pain with my throat. This better get better soon.
