Today was almost a culture shock. We were in a big city where we didn´t stand out. We didn´t look like tourists and it was nice to have a break. Our hotel in the basement gave us breakfast in bed. We took it easy today and took our time getting ready.
Once we were ready we went and walked around downtown. We also decided to attempt a night bus to Santiago. So we went to the bus station and paid for a fisrt class bus ticket. This meant that we would be able to turn our chairs into beds. We figured if we were going to spend the night on a bus, we should at least be able to try and sleep. We had been very anti-overnight buses, but in the other countries we heard they were not the safest. We had heard good things baout the Chilean buses, so thought we should give it a shot.
Once we had our tickets, we went walking downtown. We found a store that was a cross between Pottery Barn, IKEA and Bed Bath and Beyond. It was amazing. I miss shopping. I have done plenty of shopping on the trip, but most of it was for other people. This would have been for me. Anyway, I didn´t buy anythign. It was hard though.
For dinner, we braved McDonald´s. we had not eaten fast food since we had been down here. We were really hungry and tired. We just wanted to eat and go to bed. It wasn´t nearly as greasy as it is in the US wich was surprising. So we had our burger and fries and went back to our room to watch an episode of Law and Order and went to bed.
