Puno Day 1

Today we spent many hours on a bus, well 6. We were headed to Puno. Once we arrived in Puno, we were ambushed by people at the bus sttion. We went to the taxis and a crazy lady jumpped into our taxi, tryng to get a commission from a hostal we picked out with no help from her. We went to the hostal andhad hoped to buy a bus ticket to go to La Paz Bolivia for tomorrow, but there was a huge planned transportation strike. So instead, we booked an island tour and a day on Lake Titicaca in hopes that the strike would only last one day.

So, we decided to walk around and check out Puno. We passed a group of military men. Dad didn´t seem them until he almost ran into one of them. He looked upad said "Whoa"! Then just about each one of the military men started moching him. Each saying "Whoa"in different pitches. It was so funny.

Today is also Palm Sunday. There were women in front of the church selling weavings of palm leaves. It was so amazing. I have seen so many different holidays and celebrated in different ways than in the US. I really enjoy it. We had a fairly early night and got ready for our day on Lake Titicaca tomorrow.
