Today we had an early morning. We woke up around 5:00 am to catch a bus to a town called Otavala about 2 hours away. this town is supposed to be spectacular on Saturday`s because it turns into a huge market. Early in the morning, around 5, there is an animal livestock market, which I was not that into seeing. knoing many of these animals destinations was enough for me. But we got up so we could go to the crafters market.
We arrived at Otavala around 8:00 just as it was opening. It was so amazing. it was huge! There were streets lined with booths and tables of vendors selling scarves, blankets, ponchos, pottery, jewelry, art, bags, etc. There were so many different colors patterns and designs it was unreal. i went to town shopping. Not really, I was pretty tame considering.
All of the women at the market were dressed in native wear, black skirt with a pretty belt, an embroidered white top and shall. They were carrying babies and loads of goods on their back. it gave the market much more character. They were beautiful. i wanted to take pictures, but didn´t because I didn´t want to offend anyone, or pay them for their picture.
that was such a fun experience. I almost want to go back and get some more goodies.
