Quito Day 4

Today we ventured into Old Town Quito. We were walking around and stumbled onto the Wold Press Photos of 2007. I had never seen one of these displays before. It was amazing. I feel like I have been very naieve with my knowledge about global issues and world news. Some of the pictures were very disturbing and eye opening.

we also went to a church called St. Augustine. it was absolutely beautiful. From wall to ceiling it was painted blue, green and pink pastel with intricate designs. It looked like victorian style wall paper. I wish I didn´t feel weird taking pictures in churches because it was magnificent.

We also went into a church and museum called Cathedral Primada. This had many earns of worshiped individuals, giant pipe organs, tombs, paintings and sculptures. Some of my favorite items in the museum were outfits worn by old preists, bishops, cardinals and other church personel. They were so intricate and luxurious it was amazing. The other nifty item was an original gregorian chant book made by hand. you sould see the animal hide it was printed on and the letters were so perfect. It was great.

Then we decided to experience the trolly... I have never seen such a huge cluster _____ of people in my life. These are so crowded I can´t even explain. Before people can get off the trolly, people squeeze into it, which makes it even more difficult to get out. i was trying to get out and got stuck between a railing and the doors when they opened. I had to literally shove people out of the way so i could make it out. its crazy. A person needs to start pushing their way to the doors 3 stops before theirs so they can insure that they will make it out. It was a good day none the less.
