Quito Day 15

I still haven´t left Quito. We didn´t do much today because we had our flight in the afternoon and it was raining and cold. We also had to wait for our laundry to be done. (remember, I fell at the airport and got covered in nast.) So we made lunch and sat inside while reading our books. It was a really nice day actually. Then at the airport, finally going to Lima, the plane was overbooked. We were put up in a hotel for the night and a voucher for the flight. We are still in Ecuador.

The hotel was unbelievable. I have never stayed in a hotel as nice as this before. I was truely out of place. This was my true culture shock. As I am sitting in the lobby of the Dann Carlton, 4 star hotel in my jeans and t-shirt, while getting past by people in 3 piece suits. I was very out of place. The hotel had a swimming pool, salon and spa, casino, jaquzzi, sauna and steamroom. They even had slippers in the room and a bathtub. It was sureal. Sad that this was the biggest culture shock of the trip.

We had our dinner, snooped around, had a multicourse meal and took a bottle of wine to our room and drank and watched HBO. It was a side of Quito that I appreciated.
